Happy 30th Birthday
Tweet
Monday ended what was the best birthday week ever! I had such an amazing weekend spending time with friends and family.
Saturday I had most of the my girlfriends meet me at The Candle Lab for a little candle making party. I fell in love with this company. The owner was our party host and he made the party so much fun (Oh and his family cloth diapers too. Cool, huh?). When you first arrive you go through there 123 scents and pick out your favorites. Then the owner helped us put together three/four scents that would go well together. I made two candles:
1. Bamboo, Lavender, Rain
2. Wild Currant, Cake Batter, Anjou Pear
These are soy wax, cotton paper wick candles so they burn with less soot. Meaning they don't fill up your air filter in your house. If you live in the Columbus area, you MUST check out The Candle Lab.
Christopher out did himself this year AGAIN! I didn't think it could get much better than Christmas but it did. I got a Return to Tiffany Bracelet
This bracelet allows you to add charms to it. I've already eyed up the "Mom" charm for later.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I had a great 30th Birthday Week.

30th Birthday Party Planning
Tweet
If you remember from last year, birthdays are big deal in our house...we get birthday weeks! I've decided that my birthday week will start on Valentine's Day this year. I can't wait to see what Christopher has up his sleeve for this year's present.
Since I was so indecisive about what I wanted to do for my birthday. I ended up helping Christopher plan my party. It's going to be an all day event. Only my friends wonderful friends would understand that (and put up with it).
On February 19, we still start the day out at The Candle Lab for a candle making party with just the girls. Then while our candles are setting we will get something to eat at La Chatelaine. I wanted to do a light lunch because for dinner we are going to The Meling Pot. After we have stuffed ourselves at The Meling Pot we are going to head to OManny's, one of our favorite pubs, for some adult beverages.
My very talented husband was able to make these awesome invitations for everyone. We saw the idea on Etsy and my husband was able to copy the idea. He is very talented in the realm of Photoshop. Aren't they adorable?
Ok, maybe only a true geek can appreciate them?
Since we know most of the bartenders at OManny's they have agreed to hold some tables for us. So the above invite will then have Held for Christy's 30th Birthday and be in a card tent on each table. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

The Domestic Princess Gift Guide
Tweet
I thought it would be fun to list some of my favorite gifts to give. These are always a hit.
EOS Lip Balm: This a USDA Organic Lip Balm and one of my absolute favorites. I gave these to all the women who came over for our Christmas Party this weekend. These run about $2.99 at CVS but can also be found at Walgreens and Target.

William Sonoma Kitchen Towels and Apple Pie Mold with Filling: I've given this gift multiple times in a basket. $34.95
Chianti and Kerrygold Dubliner Irish Stout Cheese (found at Whole Foods): This cheese is the most amazing cheese you will ever taste and can be paired with any bottle of wine to make a great gift. Price varies.
What are your go to gifts for friends and family?

They are doing an 8 pm and 11 pm show but when we bought tickets (in July) the 8 pm show was already sold out. We got really great tickets for $45. We're sitting on the floor, Row X, Section 1.
I can't wait!
Like always, I will be tweeting through our whole evening. Come hang out with us!
We're going to see Chelsea Handler in her Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang Tour tomorrow. I'm a loyal watcher of Chelsea every night at 11 pm. I love her humor. She is touring this weekend with Brad

Ch, Ch, Changes...(Giveaway)
Have you noticed some changes around here? We got a new pretty coat of paint!
My favorite part about this design is the argyle. If you remember, argyle anything is my favorite and I love how Kelly incorporated that into my design.
If you take a look around there are some very cool features that were added during this makeover:
1. Blog Button: Isn't it adorable? More argyle ::swoon:: Take the code and post it on your blog. You're only cool if you wear argyle!
2. Navigation Bar: I added some more pages in the navigation bar. I'll be filling in the new pages soon.
3. Signature: Ok, this isn't a huge deal but I completes the look of each post
4. Link Within: I removed the Link Within (or You Might Also Like) after each post because it didn't flow with the page anymore. Let me know if you liked this feature. I can bring it back.
Now for the most exciting part for you...We will be doing a giveaway sponsored by CSN Stores.
If you've never heard of CSN Stores before, they have everything from barstool to cribs.
This giveaway will be for a $35 Gift Card to CSN Stores.

Mandatory: Tell me one thing you love about our new site
Bonus: 1. Put my new blog button on your site and post your link in your comment

Go Bucks!
The Buckeye Football season starts this Thursday. So, even though we don't have a ton of new Buckeye gear, I'm ready to get this football season started. Bring on the bean dip, chips, beer and cornhole.....
Go Buckeyes!
Every year around the same time, Chris and I make the trip to a store called The Buckeye Corner. It's a local shop where you can buy all of your Ohio State apparel needs. Usually, we end up spending way too much money on shirts, pants and hats labeled with Ohio State. This year, since we are still saving for the car we want, we scaled it back to one sweatshirt for me and two t-shirts for Chris.

Go Buckeyes!

I bet you didn't know we are a one car family! Interesting, huh? It works for us but since, hopefully, we will be a family of five (including the dogs) soon. We are going to need another car.
So, in February this year we paid off our current car and decided to start saving to put a nice down payment on a new one. We are trying to narrow down a few models/makes we like before going shopping.
Here are our specifications:

I'm completely lusting after the Nissan Rogue
Nissan is offering 0.9% financing right now and we get a decent discount through the company we work for.
Another close contender is the Nissan Cube

I think this car is so ugly but it gets 27 mpg in the city. Plus, we could get a top of the line Cube and still stay under budget.
Another one I'm really in love with is the Honda Element
I love all the space in this car and you can't go wrong with a Honda, right?

1 Year Smoke Free
Tweet
Wow, I never thought I'd be saying this but today marks 1 year Smoke Free for me! It hasn't been easy but I made it. Here are some fun facts:
Only 7% of people who quit make it to one year
My risk for coronary heart disease has decreased by half
We have saved ourselves $4,030 in the last year
I have decreased my heart rate and blood pressure

Don't Push Me Too Far...

Did you ever have that band that changed your life? Made you think differently?
Well, that was Sublime to me. Listening to Sublime brings back such great memories of Christopher and I when we first started dating. You could almost say Sublime as been the background music to our life. But tragically in 1996 the lead singer of Sublime, Bradley Nowell died. So for me, seeing Sublime in concert was never an option.

Until, now! Sublime as reformed with a new singer, Rome.
On April 30, 2010 Sublime w/ Rome with be in Columbus, Ohio and we're going to see them. I can't express how excited I am to go see Sublime live. It's like Christmas for this Princess.
Tell me what is that band that you never got to see that you were in love with?

Food, Inc.
Recently, Christopher and I decided to watch Food, Inc. I couldn't believe how eye opening this movie was.
Did you know that McDonald's is the biggest purchaser of beef, therefore controls the beef industry? Scary, huh?
Since watching this movie, we have decided to start working more organic food into our diet. Not only for the health benefits but for some of the more humane practices that organic offers the animals.
Do you eat organic? How do you save money while still trying to eat organic? I'd love to hear about your experiences.

My Birthday Week Report
Tweet
First, I have to say I have the most amazing friends and husband. Thank you all for making my Birthday Week the best it could have been. I was pretty upset last week about my diagnosis but everyone was so good about making me feel better.
Saturday we had a birthday extravaganza. We left the house at 8:00 am and headed to Cincinnati for a day of shopping. We got to Ikea around 10 am and didn't leave until 2 pm. I left Ikea with Billy Bookcase extenders, some drapes and accessories.
There is an outlet mall 3 exits from the Cincinnati Ikea so we headed over there. I purchase a new Coach purse and a sweater from North Face. I can't wait to show you these.
When we got home I had received a card in the mail from my blog friend, Mrs. Messi. I don't think she'll ever know how much that little card meant to me.
We had dinner plans with a few friends at my favorite Italian food, Villa Nova.

Then headed out for lots of "Adult Beverages." The hangover was so worth it.

Birthday Week
Tweet
Yesterday was the start of what we call "Birthday Week"
My Mom started this crazy tradition when we were younger. We didn't just get a BirthDAY, we got a week. This meant that we got to do what we wanted all week (to a point, of course), Mom would make what we wanted for dinner and everyone had to watch what we wanted on TV.
So when Chris and I started dating he thought that was such a great idea that we have continued the tradition.
My 29th Birthday is on Sunday February 21 and I'm excited to kick off Birthday Week. This week will definitely involve some Chipotle, Ikea and the Coach Store. Oh, I can't wait.

Goals for 2010
Tweet
What a great year this has been! Christopher and I bought our first house and learned alot about remodeling, the hard way. We hosted our first party this summer, then had Christmas. We are loving every minute of homeownership. I can't wait to see what 2010 holds for us. So I thought it would be really cool to post our goals for 2010 then review them at the end of the year and see if we reached them all.
Conceive a child (ok, maybe, that's a wish)
Christy: Lose 15 lbs
Save $6K
Pay off the car
Chris: Lose 20 lbs
Finish Attic Project (ofcourse, I will blog about this later)
Finish Door Project (and this one too)
Organize the remaining closets in the house
Christy: Advance my career
Those look like perfectly attainable goals to me. What are your goals for the New Year?

Christmas Wrap Up
Tweet
We rearranged the living room to create more space for all the guests and I think we may keep it.
The dining room table was removed and we put two 6 foot folding tables in. I got centerpieces at the Dollar Tree. For both tables the decorations were $10
Here is a picture of me with one of my new scarves. I wear scarves all the time and have a ton of them, so my mom got me three more for Christmas.
Here is is all of my family crowded into what I thought was our large living room. ha ha!
And last but not least is my adorable newphew who gave 12 people (including us) the flu. We spent all day Sunday and Monday in bed recovering.
We had such a great Christmas this year, at our house. Thank you so much to all of our family and friends that were able to make it. The memories we created will never be forgotten.
