Workout: Banish Fat Boost Metabolism

I couldn't stick with The Firm's Power Half Hour, I guess I'm just not that coordinated. I thought since I enjoy Jillian's 30 days shred so much that maybe another circut training video would be fun. I picked up Banish Fat Boost Metabolism at Wal-Mart for $9.

Holy Workout, Jillian! This video goes through 40 mins of circuit plus a warm up and cool down, so it ends up being more close to an hour. This is my Sunday video since I seem to have more time on that day. If you need to turn up yor workout, this is the video for you.

Health: I'm down 10 pounds!

I'm so excited to tell you that I have lost my first 10 pounds. I wanted to post these photos, to keep myself honest but to also show off the weight I've lost. I'm by no means within the realm of skinny but I'm so very proud of myself for sticking with this. If I never lose another pound I can be happy at this weight. But in Christy fashion, I'm going to keep going for more. My ideal weight would be 140 pounds. I'll let you guys know when I get there!

The first set of pictures were taken on March 24, 2010, the second set of pictures were taken just this weekend on May 15, 2010.

Health: Atkins Advantage Shakes

I've found a great way to keep my calories and carbs down in the morning. I was having toast every morning but was looking for something with less carbs. I found these Atkins Advantage Shakes at Wal-Mart for around $6. These shakes have about 5 carbs in them and 150 calories. I pair my Strawberry shake with some turkey sausage for a fulfilling breakfast.

Workout: The Firm Power Half Hour

     The Firm: Power Half Hour

Recently I had been getting bored with The Biggest Loser Bootcamp.  So I went and bought Jillian Micheal's 30 Day Shred and The Firm's Power Half Hour.

For the non-coordinated person I am, this video was really hard to follow. I think after doing the video a few times anyone would be able to catch on. What I did like about this video is even though most of the time I was stumbling around trying to do the right moves, I still burned 250 calories according to my Polar HR Watch.

Overall, I will definitely stick with this video. I'm trying to get a collection of video's so I don't get bored again. Do you have one that you absolutely love?

Workout: Jillian Michals 30 Day Shred

I'm officially bored with my Biggest Loser DVD's! I decided it's time to mix it up. This weekend, I went and bought Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I'm on day 1, level 1 and love it. It's so nice to have different workouts to do.

In the past, I have responded very well to circuit training and that's just what Jillian has you doing. Jillian takes you through 3 minutes of Cardio, 2 minutes of Strength Training and 1 minute of abs. This video is non-stop and kept my heart rate between 160 and 180. I'm hoping that this video with the other one I bought (I'll let you know once I try it), will be just what I need to drop some more pounds.

My Running Partner

This has been my faithful running partner the last two weeks

Isn't he stinkin' adorable?

Frustrated.

Is the only word I can use to describe how I've been feeling about losing weight.

On March 8, I started doing the Biggest Loser Bootcamp with Bob. I'm doing this for 30 minutes, 3 times a week. My calorie intake has been about 1600 calories per day with lots of protein.

My total weight loss = 0. Really, body?!? This is not funny.

We are at the start of week 4 (March 23) and I have decided to change things up. I will be doing Biggest Loser Bootcamp with Bob three times a week but I will also add in two days of running for 30 minutes. Also, I will be decreasing my calorie count to 1500 instead of 1600 per day. By doing this I'm eliminating my after dinner snack. Please let this be change I need to start shedding the pounds.

What are/have you done to help you lose weight? Tell me your favorite workout!

Amy's Organic Frozen Meals

Since we've been trying to eat more organic, we have noticed we are cooking at home a lot more. But this takes time. On a recent trip to Whole Foods, we found these frozen meals made by Amy's. They are gluten free and hormone free. I couldn't believe how great they tasted. This has made eating organic much more easier on our busy evenings.

We have tried the Mac N Cheese and the Enchilada's. Have you tried Amy's? What are your favorite meals?

Health: Vitamuffins

These Vitamuffins are a must try. For 100 calories, I haven't found anything that tastes like chocolate. But I was having a huge chocolate craving the other night and was willing to try anything. So, I picked up these wonder Vitamuffins and this is my new favorite dessert.

Vitamuffins has a ton of other flavors. Have you tried any?

Don't miss out: Oprah

Ladies, set your DVR's cause Oprah is having a whole episode dedicated conscious eating on Thursday.

One of my lovely readers, Allison, contacted me letting me know that this episode will re-air tomorrow. This episode takes a look at the documentary we just watched last week: Food, Inc and also features Michael Pollen, who appears in the film.

I can't wait to watch this episode. Are you going to tune in?

Food, Inc.

Recently, Christopher and I decided to watch Food, Inc. I couldn't believe how eye opening this movie was.
Did you know that McDonald's is the biggest purchaser of beef, therefore controls the beef industry? Scary, huh?

Since watching this movie, we have decided to start working more organic food into our diet. Not only for the health benefits but for some of the more humane practices that organic offers the animals.

Do you eat organic? How do you save money while still trying to eat organic? I'd love to hear about your experiences.

Health: Biggest Loser 30 day Jumpstart

Since my diagnosis last week, I know I need to get my butt in gear and lose some weight.

I started the Biggest Loser 30 Day Jump Start today and so far I loving it. My favorite part about this video is it gives you the option to follow a 4 week program or do an individual workout on your own. The 4 week program is 10 minutes, Monday through Saturday and rest on Sunday. The DVD also came with a booklet full of recipes, which I can't wait to try and share with you.

The first day I did Cardio Blast 1, which is 10 minutes of straight cardio and I did Upper Body, which was another 10 minutes of Upper Body with weights. Yea, I'm an over achiever!

Burn Baby Burn

I took my first Zumba class this week and it was AMAZING! I'm addicted. I went to the class a little nervous because I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or be able to catch on to the steps but really wanted to give it a try.

I was curious how many calories I was going to burn so I took my Polar Heart Rate watch. The total calories were 543! Can you believe that? I can't wait to go back on Saturday.

Have you taken Zumba? If not, GO!

Have a great weekend!

Can I be in your music video?

I had an epiphany on the treadmill today....."I have checked out every women in the gym to see whether she is hotter/skinner than me". Don't lie, you do it too!

"Look at her, why would she wear those pants with those rolls" or "Wow, I wish I had her body"

We all do it, but why? Why do we size each other up against other women?

I think it all goes back to our primal need to be the most attractive to get the attention of an attractive male.

I know pretty deep thoughts while on the treadmill but set that with some Kanye as background music and I think I was staring in a music video.

Pushing Through

Do you know what I'm talking about? The point in your workout when you hit the wall, you think "I can't finish", "I'm not going to make it".....but then all the sudden out of no where comes this adrenaline that pushes you and you make your goal.

I hit that today with my workout and oh it felt so good!

Have a great weekend.

I'm gonna be skinny and healthy!

We joined the gym! There is a YMCA right down the street from our house so we took a tour this weekend. After discussing it, Christopher and I decided to make room in the budget to join. It's $72.00 a month and this includes our membership, all classes, the pool and up to two hours of day care (for future reference).

On the left hand side you'll notice a widget I created to show my goal weight, my current weight and calories burned. I have 21 pounds I want to loose. I think that starting pregnancy at 135 pounds would be my ideal pre-pregnancy weight. I'm really excited to really get to loosing pounds and getting healthy.

My $50 Winnings

Since, we lived in an apartment for so long, I refused to buy seasonal decor (minus Christmas) because we didn't have the place to store it all. I decided I still wanted some more seasonal decor for the house. So I bought these carvable pumpkins from Micheal's at $5.99 a piece along with these fake bales of hay for $6.99 each. I got some flickering lights to go inside.

As soon as the real pumpkins come out, I'm going to get some real pumpkins to sit on the stairs and some corn staulks for the corner of the porch. I can't wait. So my total for today was $60.

Check out where I got the idea from The DIY Showoff. I took Roeshel's idea and transformed it a little. Great Idea Roeshel!

What do you think?

Weight Loss Challenge Winner

Friday was a hard day with food for me. All I wanted was pizza for dinner. It's Friday doesn't that equal pizza?! But I reisisted.

So do you want to know who won the weight loss challange? I did, I did, I did, I did!

Chris' starting weight: 203
Chris' weight this morning: 199
Weight Lost: 4 pounds

Christy's starting weight: 152
Christy's weight this morning: 146.5
Weight Lost: 6.5 pounds

The winner, wins $100. Wahoo! We knew I was going to win last night, so I bought some new fall decor for the house and spent $50. I'm still trying to decide what to do with the other $50. Here's some pictures of my new fall decor:

What should I buy with the rest of my winnings?
