{Small projects turn into big ones}

We recently decided to embark on a bedroom makeover. If you remember here and here. The first thing that had to happen was the TV needed to be mounted on the wall. While Chris and I are kinda handy this was definitely a job that called for reinforcements. We are lucky enough to have free reinforcements (AKA: Brad my Step-Dad) but sometimes we have to wait for a weekend to free up for him. Which was the case, so two months later we finally secured a time for him to come over and help.

And just like any home improvement project, we ran into a "snag" or in this case a "cut". While cutting the drywall open Chris and Brad accidentally cut a wire in the wall. Doesn't it always happen like that? So instead of a tiny piece of drywall missing from my bedroom, they had to cut a giant piece to run the replacement wire in the wall.

But the final product turned out awesome, as you can see in the picture. Now we are ready to paint!

Modern Family Color Scheme

Every time I watch Modern Family I swoon over the Dunfy Living Room, specifically the blue color in the hallway. It's so calming. We could definitely use more of that lately in our house.

I finally set out on a search for the color since we have decided to repaint the Master Bedroom. I found the color with a quick google search over at Reckliss Bliss: Labrador Blue by Benjamin Moore. I guess I'm not the only who loves this color.

I asked a few friends online to help me come up with a design. I knew I loved the color but just couldn't figure out what color bedding to go with it.

I think this turned out fabulous. My favorite part is the pillows and the lamps. I love how bright they are.

What do you think of the design?

Goodbye Yellow Brick {Walls}

I'm going to scream in my best Oprah voice....BEDROOM MAKEOVER!!!

We moved into our house about 2 years ago and because I have hated the color of the walls I've done nothing with this room. It's time to take care of this room and get some drapes on the windows.

We have found a few colors that we like:

Labrador Blue - Benjamin Moore

Van Courtland Blue - Benjamin Moore

I love these colors with stripes, maybe something like this

We are also thinking about rearranging the room, adding Recessed Lighting, new bedding and best of all some curtains. I look forward to sharing all the details with you as we go.

How To Do Military Corners

This is a really simple and easy tutorial on how to do hospital/military corners. Also, you can play around with the size of the corners. In the video, the corner is bigger but if you wanted to can make them smaller.

I'd love to hear your thoughts/questions about the video.

I feel the wind in my hair....

On Saturday afternoon, during my shopping spree, Christopher and I purchased a ceiling fan for our bedroom. Our apartment had a ceiling fan right above our bed and we missed it so much we had to get one for the house. We paid $119.00 Hunter 5 Minute Fan at Home Depot. The great thing about our house is it was already wired for ceiling fans in 4 rooms. So it took about an hour to put up (it was our first ceiling fan installation). Here's some pictures of our bedroom with the equity increasing addition:
