Jackson Day 6

Jackson Day 6 in NICU (2.28.12)

We woke up at 9 am and called NICU to check on Jackson. His nurse told us today that they are decreasing the time between his feedings to 2 1/2 hours today and hes still getting about 50-55 mL. He's been taking full bottles all on his own.

Chris and I got up to the hospital about 1 pm and saw his doctors and nurse practitioners right away. They told us that Jackson's platelets were 30,000 again. Not enough to do a transfusion but still really low. They wanted to do a ultrasound of his head and stomach at rule out a blood clot or bleed that would be taking his platelets. We will hopefully have the results back in the morning for the ultrasound.

Jackson's sugar stayed pretty stable all day today. So we were able to get the PICC line out of his head. I can't wait to take in a cute hat for him to wear tomorrow.

Today we started Kangaroo Care to help keep Jackson's sugars stable and to help him overall. It was amazing to lay with my little man. He took very well to it and fell right asleep.

Today Jackson is 6 lbs 4 oz.

Jackson's skin is really dry and peeling today. I'm going to take in some CJ's Butter tomorrow and hope that works in helping his peeling skin. He also has a really bad diaper rash so he had some prescription diaper cream on his bum today.

Today they also tested me for Neonatal Alloimmune Thromcytopenia. The doctors think that this may be the reason that Jackson's platelets are low and won't come back up. It takes 3 days to get the results of this test since they have to send it out to another lab. If this test is negative, they said they have to go back to the drawing board and start testing for other things.

Our little boy is doing so good and we are hoping to have him home soon!
