This week I'm 38 weeks, so we decided it's way past time to pack the hospital bag. I know I've read through so many blogs, websites, etc. about what to pack in your bag. I thought you might like to know what we decided to pack in ours.

I am a little confused by the ace bandage, can you explain?

Sarah, the Ace Bandage was a recommendation from a friend of mine. Since we have decided not to breastfeed, she said it should help with the pain when my milk comes in. I guess keep "the girls" as close to the body as possible is supposed to help the milk go away faster too. I don't know if this is myth or truth but I figured between that and the sports bra it would at least not make as painful. I've read ice packs can help too. Hope that helps :)

Is this really dumb...I thought the baby nursing for the first two or three days is what made your milk come in. Is that wrong?

From what I've been reading, your milk comes in no matter if you attempt to breast feed or not. But ofcourse some never get milk.

Gotcha! I've never heard of that before and since I went the breastfeeding route, no wonder I never heard of it! Thanks!

If this gives you peace of mind then it's well worth the time and effort. That said, this is way over the top and you'll probably use a fraction of this stuff.

I also chose not to breastfeed, but are you at all concerned about the recent reports about organic formula?

Anonymous,

Thank you for your comments. Hopefully we do find we have packed too much. Since this is our first trip we aren't totally sure what to bring.

On the topic of the Organic Formula, yes this is a very large concern of ours. We have put a lot of research into picking a formula that will work for us and Jackson and the recent news stories have scared us too. Right now it looks like only Brown Rice Syrup (Organic or Not) is being effected. Similac Organic is sweetened with Cane Sugar and does not contain any Brown Rice Syrup. There is also another Organic Formula called Earth Best that does not contain Brown Rice Syrup either.

I've been following your blog for a while, and to see your words go from anxious yet determined to radiant and thankful...priceless. I am very happy for you, wishing you all the best.

Just curious as to why you are not breastfeeding?
