Spotlight on Infertility: Michelle and Mr. W.

I'd like to introduce our first "Spotlight on Infertility" feature. Her name is Michelle and her story is amazing:

1. You and your significant others names: Michelle and Mr. W

2. How long have you been trying to conceive? 22 months. 6 months of TTC on our own before going to a doctor. My Gyn did some basic tests and referred us to a RE.

3. What stage of Infertility are you in (Natural, Clomid, IUI, IVF)? We are doing our first IVF this month. We should know by mid October if we are pregnant or not.

4. What procedures have you gone through to diagnose you and your significant other? Bloodwork, trans-vaginal ultrasounds, testicular ultrasounds, physical exams, HSG

5. If you have been diagnosed, would you please share? PCOS & thyroid issues for me and Azoospermia for him. Azoospermia is a the absence of sperm in ejaculate.

6. Are you seeing an Ob/Gyn or a RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist): Yes, since June 2009

7. What supplements are you taking (PNV, Fertile Aid, Etc.)? Prenatal vitamins and 400mg of Folic Acid

8. Are you charting/using ovulation predictors/fertility monitor? If you are charting, would you want to post your chart link? No charts. Since my cycle has regulated with Metformin, Sythron and a low carb diet. I have tracked my cycle with OPK's and the OV watch.

9. Have you ever been pregnant before? No

10. What are your plans for your future (infertility treatments, adoption, working with children)? We begged, borrowed and stole enough money for this 1 IVF. If this doesn't work and we have frozen embryos left over, we will try a frozen cycle. After that, we will do IUI with donor sperm (covered under insurance). I can't think any further down the road than that.

11. Is there anything else you would like to tell us about you? Husband did a MTese a tesciular biopsy to search for sperm. They found a few and froze a few samples of his testicular tissue. They said the results were Not Good, but they did find 1 half moving sperm. We hope to use this for our upcoming cycle.

12. Do you have a blog/website where you talk about your journey? If so, please link here: http://sohardtrying.blogspot.com/

Michelle, thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm sending you and Mr. W a ton of baby dust for your up coming IVF cycle.
