Organic Dog Biscuits

Organic Crunchy Cookies (for Dogs)

**Makes about 16 cookies**

1 1/2 cup Organic Whole Wheat Flour
1 1/2 cup Organic Brown Rice Flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1 egg
1/4 honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup water

Preheat oven to 375. Combine all ingredients together and mix thoroughly in a large bowl. Add 1/2 extra water while combining ingredients. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. These will not expand so you can place them close together. I used a fork to make them look like peanut butter cookies rather than big blobs.

Bake 20 minutes or until brown. Bag up in cookie bags and give to all your favorite furry friends.

1 box of Chocolate Graham Crackers
1 tub of Free Cool Whip

Take 1 sheet of Chocolate Graham Crackers and spit in half, then put 2 tablespoons of Free Cool Whip on the cracker. Place the other side on top. Repeat until you run out of Cool Whip. Freeze and enjoy! These are about 80 calories for one sandwich.

My Mom and I used to make these along time ago for dessert so I thought I'd share.

Easter Cupcakes

This year for Easter, I made these adorable cupcakes from my Hello, Cupcake book.
For my first attempt, I think they turned out pretty good. I did have to make some changes because of not being able to find certain items the recipe called for.

The first change, was I used Marshmallows instead of White Circus Peanuts for the rabbit feet. Who the heck has ever seen White Circus Peanuts, anyways?! The second change was I used chocolate sprinkles instead of chocolate covered sunflower seeds for the claws. Third, I used clear sprinkles on the tail instead of white nonpareils. Last but not least, I used coconut and died it green instead of using green icing for the grass.

What do you think?

It was a beautiful Easter Day, here's a picture of the family hanging on the back porch.

Recipe: Grilled Chicken Salad

This was super easy but here's my tip for a great chicken salad.

Grill the chicken on the grill. It makes the chicken taste so much better. We made this salad with USDA Organic Chicken, USDA Organic Lettuce, Shredded Mozzerella, Organic Crutons and Balsamic Vinaigrette.

Recipe: Shrimp Stir-Fry

This recipe is so easy but there is a secret.

We got a bag of frozen stir fry veggies and fresh shrimp. This was the cheaper option. You could get fresh veggies and buy aparagus, green peppers, squash, red peppers and broccoli.

Here is the secret

It's all in the sauce! We love House of Tsang's Classic Stir-Fry Sauce and it's only 25 calories per tablespoon. We usually use 4 tablespoons, adding 100 calories.

Recipe: Two Slow Cooker Recipes

Mushroom Chicken

You'll need 1 pound of chicken, 2 cans of Cream of Mushroom and 2 cans of Water. Put it in the slow cooker on low for 8 hours. By the time, you get home from work your chicken will be done. We put this over brown rice.

The next recipe is almost the same but just with salsa.

Salsa Chicken

1 pound of chicken, 1 bottle of Salsa and 1 cup of water. Set the slow cooker to low for 8 hours. We make brown rice with this also.

Recipe: Super Bowl Party Food

We had a little get together for the Super Bowl on Sunday Evening.
My friend, Ashley, made these adroable little footballs. They are peanut butter rice crispies covered in chocolate. They were so yummy.

I made shredded chicken sandwiches.

These take a lot of time to make but aren't that hard.

Boil chicken breast in the oven at 300 degrees for two to three hours, until the chicken is shredding on its own. Then put the chicken in the crock pot with cream of chicken soup. Heat on warm until ready to serve.

Recipe: Layered Mexican Bake

First I want to say that if you haven't had a chance to check out KraftFoods.com, you need to do so. When I think of Kraft I normally don't think Healthy Recipes but they have a TON.

We made the Layered Mexican Bake last night for dinner and we loved it. It's so easy. I put it in the oven and had 20 minutes to pick up the house.

What you need:

1-1/2 lb. extra-lean ground beef
1 large onion
chopped 2 green peppers
 4 tsp. chili powder
 2-1/2 cups chunky red salsa
2 pkg. (10 oz. each) frozen corn
 6 high-fiber whole wheat tortillas (8 inch)
1 cup BREAKSTONE'S Reduced Fat or KNUDSEN Light Sour Cream
1-1/2 cups KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese, divided

HEAT oven to 375ºF.

BROWN meat with onions and peppers in large skillet on medium-high heat. Stir in chili powder; cook 1 min. Add salsa and corn; mix well. Simmer 5 min.

SPREAD 2 cups meat sauce onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking dish; top with layers of 2 tortillas, 1 cup meat sauce, sour cream and 1/2 cup cheese. Cover with 2 tortillas, 2 cups of remaining meat sauce and half of remaining cheese; top with remaining tortillas and meat sauce. Cover with foil.

BAKE 30 min. or until casserole is heated through. Top with remaining cheese; bake, uncovered, 5 min. or until melted.

Let me know if you like it too!

Recipe: Chicken Tenders and Chips

These were so super easy to make. I bought boneless skinless chicken tenders and covered them with Shake n Bake. I baked them for 15 mins on 350 degrees.

Then chopped up one potato into VERY thin slices. Put some EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) on the baking sheet with some sea salt. These went in with the chicken teders for 15 mins at 350 degrees.

This is still very low calorie but I didn't calculate them. This was Christopher's favorite of the new recipes I've tried.

What low calorie recipes have you been trying?

Recipe: Christopher's Famous Chili

So, maybe, it's only famous in our household but I love when it starts to get cold and Christopher makes his Chili. Luckily, he was nice enough to share his recipe with us. It's so simple but delicious.

With this meal, I made cornbread to pair with the chili.
